Celebrate a century of good times on the Santa Monica Pier with James Harris, author and historian for the Santa Monica Pier Restoration Corporation, author of the new book, Santa Monica Pier: A Century on the Last Great Pleasure Pier. Exploring a dramatic story of survival against the ravages of tides both physical and political, this discussion of Santa Monica Pier history features vintage images and magnificent color photos that capture this beloved international icon at its very best. If you love the Santa Monica Pier – and who doesn’t? – you'll treasure this trip back through time.

James Harris has been more or less a fixture on the Pier since 1989, when he took a job tending bar at the Boathouse restaurant. His writing credits include the stage plays An Illegal Start and That Little Ding; a weekly online newsletter for the Web site Venicebeach.com; and the Pier's biweekly newsletter Beyond the Pier Sign.
